From saxophone history, a selection of historical methods and the influence of relevant saxophonists in the history of the instrument, a study has been carried out on the evolution of the saxophone from classical to jazz.

First: Adolph Sax and the origins of the instrument.
Second: a path that traces the saxophone evolution from classical to jazz.
Thirdly: saxophone methods consulted are presented chronologically and are divided into three groups:

a) Manual type method.
b) Exercises method with refections that accompany them.
c) Songbook method.

Finally we talk about methods value in relation to the repertoire and the building of an integral saxophonist through the study of classical, jazz and songbooks methods.
